GPS Electrical Services was started in 1997. It was the vision of Philip Schols and his Brother in Law Glenn Mcmennemin. The name GPS being Glenn and Phil’s Services. Glenn had a passion for farming and left the business in 2002.
Early on GPS Started working for it’s first food and industrial Client La Ionica Poultry. A Relationship that still exists today.
GPS Employed our first Apprentice. The first of over 20 apprentices that GPS has proudly Trained and started on their careers.
GPS had its first introduction to an industrial refrigeration client Four Air Refrigeration. This led to the forming of many great friendships in the refrigeration industry and long-term relationships in the food industry. Diamond Valley Pork being one of those relationships formed in 2007 and still going strong today. 2007 also saw the beginning of the travel with projects at Patties Foods in Bairnsdale, Murray Bridge Bacon in South Australia and De Bruyn and Sons in Tasmania
GPS with now 8 full time employees begins working at the KRAFT FOODS factory in Port Melbourne. This is the home of Vegemite which GPS is still a part of through the ownership of Mondelez and now Bega Foods.
GPS Electrical Purchased and moved into its current Thomastown Facility and has grown to purchase a further 3 facilities in Thomastown. These Facilities are for the switchboard manufacturing office space for Administration and engineering and Drafting.
GPS Electrical was appointed the contractor to upgrade the Plant Room and main refrigeration plant at Baiada Poultry in Laverton. The upgrade required a full PLC Replacement SCADA and HMI programming along with a main 2000 Amp switchboard. All achieved with 0 down time and still running reliably to this day. This became the first of many Switchboard and PLC upgrades that GPS has, and Still is performing.
GPS appointed the contractor to install the Cool rooms and HVAC Wiring for the new spreads plant at Graincorp Foods West Footscray. This project started a longstanding relationship with Graincorp which still exists today. Including on site specialist electricians.
GPS appointed contractor to wire over 70 new tenancies at the new fruit and Vegetable market in Epping
GPS have been appointed the contractor for the relocation of a large confectionary process from NZ to Scoresby in Victoria.
GPS Electricals future has also been secured with the introduction of 2 Partners In Robert Johnstone and Brad King. Since there introduction GPS has grown again to 60 employees.
GPS appointed the Contractor to Install the new Chip plant equipment for McCain foods in Smithton.
